We are a marine rescue unit that services the municipalities of Brighton, Quinte West, Prince Edward County, and Cramahe. Our area of responsibility covers 1500 sq kms of the eastern end of Lake Ontario, from Colborne to Hucks Point and out to the US border, including Weller's Bay, Presqu'ile Bay and Brighton Bay. We are a federally registered charity and a not for profit corporation in Ontario. Our rescue missions originate from the nationally run Joint Rescue Coordination Center, as we are a designated Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary unit. We do not however, receive financial support from Federal, or Provincial Governments for the purchase and maintenance of our rescue vessel and associated equipment. As well, our volunteers do not receive financial compensation for their participation. Our motto is:
Powered by Volunteers and Fueled by Donations.
Donations can be made at our Go Fund Me page at the following link:
We are always looking for eager volunteers to join our unit. No experience is needed, beyond a Pleasure Craft Operators Card, which is a Ministry of Transportation Requirement to operate vessels on Canadian waters. We hold weekly training sessions during the operating season to teach you everything you need to know to assist in a rescue. Persons must be reasonably fit, not prone to sea sickness, and be willing to volunteer their time both on and off the boat.
